- Leads design globally for eBay Marketplace websites for all aspects of how buyers and sellers trade goods (e.g. purchase, checkout, listing, sales mgmt, customer support). Shaping 3-year strategy and near term product roadmaps to achieve business and customer goals. Reporting to VP of Product and Development.
- Designed online resolution center and established the eBay Buyer Protection brand. Launched in Nov 2009, improving NPS while managing down loss rates.
- Led the 2008 acquisition of a small design/dev company (VuVox) adding Adobe Flash capabilities to eBay. Managed the former CEO, the delivery of eBay’s iPhone App ($600M in transactions, 6M downloads) and launched diamonds.ebay.com.
- Shaped redesign of eBay’s View Item page (2009) by leveraging customer insights, design trends, and an agile development process yielding an increase in overall purchases-per-week over control.
- Developing and scaling a multi-disciplinary team of 35 designers, content strategists, user researchers, and UI engineers by applying user-centered methodology and leveraging relationships with key design programs/groups. Manage $5M budget.
- Simplified the buyer experience and unified it under one set of design patterns which impacted 90% of all page views by Holiday 2007. It helped slow eBay’s declining Net Promoter Score and reduced product maintenance costs by $2.8M over 1H 2008.
- Advocated making search results more visual and interactive based on customer research. Snapshot view, as of June 2008, is preferred by customers who try it 3:1 in visual categories.
Manager, UI Design, eBay Inc. (2005 – 2007)
- Managed a team of 5 designers focused on eBay’s search engine, homepage, multifaceted browsing, landing pages, internet marketing and SEO. Shaped the business strategy in those areas and determined the investment portfolio.
- Worked with worldwide partners in Europe and AsiaPac to scale the business. Relocated to Shanghai for 2 months to advice COO on China strategy (leading to local JV with Tom Online)
- Improved recovery when buyers receive 0 items in their query by 35% (patent pending). He put into place the product strategy which formed the core of eBay’s next generation search platform (first used in eBay Express and then on the main eBay.com site).

- Led the effort to improve the finding experience for our worldwide community (eBay users conduct over 400 million searches per day – July 2006). Analyzed customer needs, created wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, IA diagrams, and coordinated development.
- Created a knowledge management system for collecting and sharing best practices.
