I think you'll like the next iteration of the LinkedIn iPhone application.

In the meantime, for your use case I would recommend flipping to the search pane. The selection is sticky, and it makes it trivial to open the application and quickly dash in name before you meet someone for the first time.

Essential mobile tool for first meetings (customers, partners, etc).

Looks like TomTom and Apple partnered on quite the app. Announced today at WWDC: http://iphone.tomtom.com/

TomTom even created a great mounting bracket/charger/handsfree device for cars. Love it!

Great suggestions Rian (I've been using Nambu for Twitter but will check out Tweetie). I'm a big fan of the Yelp and Flixster apps as well--just didn't make my "daily" used list. The Yelp app saved a date night a few months ago when the restaurant in SF my wife and I were planning to go to was closed--Yelp's proximity search got us to a great vegetarian restaurant we loved in less than 5 minutes.

Great list! I would add:
* Tweetie - the best Twitter app by far, in my opinion
* Movies by Flixster - movie reviews, showtimes, trailers, integrated with Rotten Tomatoes, and even buying tickets from your phone. Essential app!
* Yelp - the 2.0 redesign was great, and I use it all the time now
* iPhlix - decent app to manage your Netflix queue. Not great, but the best one out there right now.

One more thing I would add to the Facebook app - the ability to filter the news feed with the groups I've set up online.
